Chinese people, especially diplomats, use to say: TCM is the present of Chinese people to all nations of all over the world. Even more important is, what all decision makers are looking to find as a profit. It could be different from country to country, sure. But let us suppose, the only one and the first is, to offer TCM help to the biggest number of the public. To help (European) people, to show and teach them, how to use and accept TCM, the famous treasure of Chinese history and culture, for treating and health.
Experiences:
There are countries with strong base of TCM in Europe. There are others. There is no other way, only to go step by step, to make positions in each of them, to support education, local practitioners and medical doctors, to look at good and the best local partners, to find with them cooperation, concord, good partnership and similar bilateral policy. It is no chance for success of one person, to prefer individual “victory”, comfortable life of one doctor, to focus on local Chinese community only (Chinese expats know TCM the best, they could be used as viral collaborators). Decision maker for local project, Sino-X Local TCM Center, has to analyse local conditions, invite local partner, open correct partnership and correct steps and activities to state administration of region. Mistakes, fakes, self-interested steps, decisions made far from reality, baseless results, wish and ideas instead facts, non-objective point of view and unrespect to partners could destroy the most beautiful ideas. For both sides.
Opportunities:
Actually, European regional policy is not the best room or area for long time strategic plans now. Each country has to be analysed separately. Cooperation with local partners could be lost, if decision maker prefers only Chinese interest in the European country. He could do it, but there is the question, why only this one. If he would like to develop TCM in concrete country, he has to understand local conditions, and accept, what is possible. There is no problem to support local Chinese communities. But let us ask, how do you understand to local people? Do you know their needs, possibilities, dreams to use TCM?
Recommendation:
As we know, there is large project of overseas TCM Centers. We could sometime read about only a few of them. We could not share their experiences, knowledge, persons. People in European countries know nearly nothing about their idea, success, experts, professional level. Do not them so secret. Do not prepare only private business or comfortable life for one TCM doctor, who is sent to mission. You are Decision Maker: You have to decide, what you want. To develop and support TCM in the country? Do it. Do help this country in education, promotion, start to build up TCM Center. Do it. Cover them by your reputation. Help them with money. Ask results, are common.
Chose one education TCM Center for more countries, branch of TCM University, send teachers, not gold miners. Offer online courses for international curses. You could build them in EU countries. But you have to have partners there, not only one rich TCM doctor.
Summa: From mission to business
Yes, TCM is business and with very big future. But it has to start as the mission. Chinese TCM Ambassador could not be businessman, he cannot to follow only his benefits and comfort, money and luxury life. It looks very bad for TCM promotion. TCM doctor in his and state “mission” could prepare new conditions, new possibilities and new people (European, local, region).
Now we are near of the middle of this way.
